Jewelry hobbyist transforms passion into cornerstone local women's boutiqueBookmark this
After years of making her own jewelry, Cyrese Jezek decided it was time to take a leap of faith in herself and her talents and open her own boutique.
Her instincts paid off, as her shop, Cyrese & Company, a popular women’s boutique in the heart of Kingwood, is now a cornerstone of the community, attracting customers for over a dozen years.
“It was a passion, something I loved doing,” Jezek said. “And I got paid to do it. I got paid to do something fun – it was my hobby.”
Jezek started off small, crafting jewelry at home when the kids would go to day care or school, selling her work at shows and to shops around Houston. Eventually, her work started to gather a devoted customer base and she decided it was time to take her work out of the house and into a storefront.
She decided to move into commercial space in a high traffic area near the Randall’s grocery store, close to Kingwood Town Center.
“It was word of mouth for 12 years,” she said. “My kids were older and I had been eyeballing that spot and I drove by one day and there was a ‘For Lease’ sign in the window.”
Cyrese & Company is a must-visit for anyone who loves unique jewelry, clothes, and accessories that one won’t find anywhere else. In addition to her own jewelry and a large selection of women’s clothing, she has an eclectic selection of belts, hats, purses, and more. Since she’s opened, her clothing sales have doubled her jewelry.
Her store has been going strong for 12 years and has become a go-to for those looking for one-of-a-kind outfits and accessories. Jezek goes out of her way to find items that are trendy and chic, which she believes is a big reason why the store has been successful.
“Mainly, I try to find something different, but not too far out,” Jezek said. “People like the fact it’s a boutique, not stuff you’d find at the mall. It’s trendier, things that you don’t see everywhere.”
Jezek also points to customer service as another reason for Cyrese & Company’s success. She and her employees will go out of their way to make sure shoppers have a great experience and leave the store happy with their purchase.
“People say it’s a fun place to shop” she said. “It’s like a Jewish deli – we’re hollering and talking, telling stories about our kids. People have a good time.”
