Before I accepted the position as President of the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, I was often asked this question. "Which chamber of commerce should I join?". My answer was always and still is, "As many as you can support and participate in!".
I have been involved with chambers of commerce since co-founding a fitness center in Guam in the 1990’s, launching an internet publication and radio station in the 2000’s, to running a chamber of commerce today. Many, if not most, of my personal and business relationships, have come from being involved with a chamber of commerce. One thing rings true regarding chambers-- when you’ve seen one chamber, you’ve seen one chamber.
Although chambers at their core are business membership organizations, they may function with different visions and goals determined by their board of directors. Most members join to connect and build their businesses. This is accomplished by the many networking, educational, and promotional opportunities chambers can provide. Many chambers also take an active role in governmental affairs and advocacy for the business community’s interest. As of this article, we all find ourselves trying to find ways to just help our members stay in business.
LocalMeA – The Best of Local is a proud member of both the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber and the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce. Why? Because both chambers offer valuable opportunities such as access to growing markets we are interested in including the expansion and growth around Beltway 8 in the Lake Houston area and the same going for the Grand Parkway/59 and 242 areas in East Montgomery County. Also as a business, I find great value in the information that is provided to us during times like these.
I do believe better times are ahead. But I like you can only wish I had a better idea of when. We all want and need them sooner than later. I encourage your business to support or continue supporting your local chambers of commerce. They have your best interest in mind and are working hard to help during this unprecedented time of crisis.
It’s always nice to have extra help at work, even if it’s in the form of Casper the ghost.
It is rare these days to see a business passed along from one generation to the next, but one Lake Houston area home renovation company is keeping it all in the family.
You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone more involved in local community than Danell Fields.
